Stettler is a town in Alberta, Canada. It is located 101 kilometres (63 mi) east of Red Deer at the junction of Highway 12 and Highway 56. The town is located in the eastern region of central Alberta and nicknamed "The Heart of Alberta". Stettler is a 186 km drive southeast of Edmonton (2 1/4 hrs.) and a 226 km drive northeast of Calgary (2 1/2 hrs.).
The population of the Town of Stettler according to its 2008 municipal census is 5,843. The town also serves as a commercial hub for several smaller communities in the area, serving a population of approximately 30,000.
Stettler is also home to Alberta Prairie Railway Excursions, a popular rail tour that runs 21 miles (1 hr) from Stettler to Big Valley.
