High River is a town in southwestern Alberta, Canada, with a population of 10,716. (2006). It is 37 kilometres (23 mi) south of Calgary, at the junction of Alberta Highways 2 and 23.
The community of High River gets its name from the Highwood River, which flows through the town. This picturesque community has served as the filming location for several movies and TV series, and is noted for the many historic murals painted throughout the downtown area.
